Belated Halloween to YOU TOO!!!

I know, I know, I know. Halloween is now soooo last week, and we are all preparing for Christmas now.
But I feel it is vitally important for me to share my scariest ever Halloween experience with you.

So here is my story:

It all happened a week ago.

On the dark and drizzly Monday night of October the 31st as all the little kiddies were putting on their ghost costumes and smearing fake blood on their angelical faces. As post-pubescent teenage girls were slutting up their sexy-witch-kitten and zobie-school-girl outfits. And as few of the cardigan wearing fathers reached for that werewolf mask: I donned on the most important outfit I had-my very own face, my very own clothes, my very own personality and my very own thinking hat. Yes, this Halloween I am dressing up as a Bitch.
And this Halloween I am a Bitch on a mission. But I am not alone I have my accomplices with me- the very lovely Sandra and Teresa, my Bitch partners in crime.

We are on our way to meet, her. The lady. The woman. The being. The Polly Courtney. We do not know what to expect, all we knew is that we are about to meet one very special female, one who has had the guts to raise two fingers to the thing we call Career in Finance and to pursue her dreams.

And now here we are, in Foyles book shop meeting Polly for the first time. I have seen pictures of her on internet before, but I had no idea. Somehow, I am not prepared. I am struck. The wind is taken out of my system. That smile. That beautiful, most sincere, most genuine smile it glares at us the instant we walk in.
So here she is, Polly, Polly Courtney, the author of “It’s a Man’s World” the woman who wrote of the “Golden Handcuffs”, the little lady who did a big thing and decided to self-publish. We are all struck, she is human.

In fact, she is more than just human, she is alive. Not just existing, not just breathing, she is living. Her voice is sharp and strong but full of joy and pride. Her body movement bisque yet elegant. She wears very simple clothes that say oh so much. We are enchanted by her endless enthusiasm.

We spend almost 2 hours in the book shop interviewing Polly. We cover so many topics that I need expose myself to radioactive waste, and grow at least 10 more digits in order to be able to count these on my hands.
As we say goodbye I can help wait but feel slightly terrified. For I have realised that it is possible, most absolutely possible to not be afraid, to want, to try, to strive and to get. This Halloween night, I have had a real fright for I have met the lady who is not the living dead but is alive.

For full interview with Polly Courtney see first Issue of Bitch magazine to be launched on 5th December.

We say many good and clever things and most importantly we listen.
